  • Overview

    The Senior System Administrator will provide the highest levels of Linux & Windows network and security support, design and implementation.  Assist with core strategic systems planning and execute plans.  Lead fundamental infrastructure initiatives.  Carry out IT industry best practices.



    45% Strategic projects

    • Participate in strategic planning efforts
    • Plan and lead significant IT initiatives
    • Lead the installation of new, or repair of existing systems

    30% Development, analysis and tactical planning

    • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to protect corporate resources
    • Find opportunities and implement changes to improve systems and network configurations
    • Provide mentoring for colleagues in support of systems and activities
    • Plan for the implementation or improvement of systems and services

    25% Routine operations, support and processing of requests

    • Diagnose and correct hardware and software issues
    • Maintain computing environments including operating systems and applications software
    • Support engineering and administrative requests
    • Monitor network performance and security
    • Respond to unplanned outages and abnormalities
    • Participate in company-wide efforts



    • BS/BA in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 4 years experience, or 8 years equivalent combination education and work experience
    • Background in Linux and Windows systems administration with a broad understanding of Linux/Unix environments
    • Experience in management of IP based networks, IT Security, Project Management
    • Ability to write shell scripts
    • Working knowledge of NFS, LDAP, IP, DNS/BIND, mail systems
    • In-depth understanding of IT security best practices
    • Self-directed with strong organizational skills; able to prioritize across multiple activities
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Occasional non-standard work hours may be required


    • Familiarity with Python and C language programming
    • Business Analysis and experience with formal project management methodologies
    • Recognized certification in IT security, Linux or networking
